Entry from: Khiam, Lebanon Entry Title: "Political Lebanon...Part 2/3" Entry: "On Wednesday I woke up feeling sick so drank a bunch of tea and took Echinacea. After awhile I started to feel better so I decided to go for a run which I had been wanting to do. I went running once in Amman but I wore pants and a wide-strap tank top and still got stares and comments. All I wanted was to go for a run in shorts and a little tank top and not have people look at me like I'm an animal in the zoo. So I decided to try out Beirut. I definitely got more stares and comments than I would have in the states but it wasn't as bad as Amman. I mainly ran on the corniche which lined the Mediterranean, therefore the atmosphere blocked all the people out anyways. The breeze combined with the smell of the sea along with the view of the water stretching for miles was completely satisfying. Later in the day Amy and I went to visit her family in Dahia, a southern suburb of Beirut. We took a service taxi there, picked up some pound cake for lunch, and then started walking. Amy first showed me the large building where Hezbollah has its meetings and then we walked a few more blocks and were at her family's apartment building.
